Midi

Midi was created as a way to control musical instruments remotely or automatically when need. Midi was started in mid 1983 and actually stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. Midi makes it possible for that instrument to play without actually playing with a musician. This has been a big innovation as the uses are virtually endless. Midi connections are on the back of most musical instruments so they can be connected to a computer and these small riffs of music or longer ones can be downloaded to your hard drive and used at a later date.

There are two big advantages of Midi. The first is it’s very easy to edit and manipulated this form of data.and it’s also in a very compact form. Midi software makes it easier to edit and to many things with midi. Midi files can be exchanged with computers as you can download them on CD’s and take them with you to other computers. Another big thing about Midi is you can record many different musical notes on a single file to be used. One thing though you can do is record voice with these files. Only musical instruments can create midi files.

Let’s look deeper into how this and these files really help musicians. Midi files are used a lot in school concerts as they don’t have the ability to bring in a whole band to play. For instance you can use midi files to play say keyboards and thus it is one less person you will have to pay to come. It eliminates having more people and can save schools some money. Midi files are hear to stay and it’s very evident as many midi web sites are popping all over the place. You can download free mid files and certain sites you can pay for a membership and use a very vast library of midi files.

As more and more of us getting use to what midi files do and how they can help us I’m sure we will use them more. The real problem is a lot of people don’t understand midi files and what they are used for. Education is the key here as this new medium can only make our life easier and I’m all about make life easier. I’m sure in time people will use it more just like anything else it’s new to people and will take some time before they grasp all it can do for them.
