Internet TV

Internet Tv is something that I really thought would actually become a realization by now, but it hasn’t. Why is that? A lot of it comes down to network televison won’t let it happen. Internet TV would put such a dent into televison shows I don’t think it will ever happen. Think about all the money that the televison networks would lose if they let it come to the internet. Now don’t get me wrong some companies have tried to get internet tv going but it has always been blocked by lawsuits. Now there are some web sites that do offer internet tv, but it usually is in foreign countries.

Internet tv will have a hard uphill battle unless something can be worked out as far as a working money making model for the networks. It all comes down to revenue and how much money the televison networks can make and if they want to share their big profits. Internet tv would make a more level playing field for everyone and I don’t think televison networks would like that very much. For instance if networks would share the wealth they could lose ads, sponsors and other people could steal their idea’s and make them better as many more people are on the internet looking to make a buck.

Internet tv also has the problem that many people want free internet tv while others want to charge for it. This is another issue why there hasn’t really been any movement on this end of this battle for the internet. I don’t think we will see internet tv for a very long time. What major network is going to give away there money maker model to the internet? Another thing you will probably run into is distribution of internet tv and who will get it and who won’t. Will it be free or paid and how much? What will happen to regular televison? These are all questions that will need to be answered before internet tv can even go one step further.

The bottom line is depending how greedy the major networks are will determine when internet tv arrives if it ever does. I wouldn’t look for it in very long time. I just can’t see it ending really soon which is really too bad for internet users. They are the ones paying the price.
