Your ISP, or Internet Service Provider, is the service provided so you can access the internet from your computer. Here’s some basic information on ISPs.

There are a few different types of ISPs. One is the dial up ISP. This enables you to access the internet by dialing up and connecting to a remote server. If you’re thinking about signing up for a dial up connection, be sure to find one that has a remote server in your area as you could incur long distance phone charges every time you try to connect to the internet. These connections tend to be fairly slow, but they are the cheaper option.

Another type is the broadband isp, which is faster than the dial up. This can be either a DSL connection or Cable connection. These cost more than the dial up option. The Wireless isp is for the DSL connection. They are not provided in every area so you can check with your local phone or cable companies for service in your area.

Then there’s the Satellite isp, which may be more than the broadband depending on what deal your isp provides. This type of connection is fast, but it has its drawbacks.
